ACHS Students Can Now have their college exams proctored online with ProctorU

Portland, Oregon--March 15, 2010--American College of Healthcare Sciences has announced students enrolled in their degree, diploma and certificate programs can now have their college exams conveniently proctored online.

ACHS President Dorene Petersen said the college is always looking for solutions that simplify the learning process for its online students.
Petersen said,"The online ProctorU service provides us with a proven and easy-to-use method to ensure academic integrity while allowing our students to take exams at a time and place convenient to them."

ACHS is one of 19 institutions of higher learning that offer online exam proctoring using ProctorU's proven system. ACHS understands one of the reasons its students enroll is the convenience online courses offer. "We realized that the requirement that a student locate a proctor to take an exam somewhat negated the convenience factor, so we searched for a solution," said ACHS Senior Vice President Erika Yigzaw.

With ProctorU, ACHS students can now go online and schedule a time to have their exam proctored. They can log in when their scheduled time approaches and meet their proctor in real-time using their webcam. Their proctor will then guide them through the process.

"ACHS, as one of the more forward thinking institutions I've come across, wanted to provide more convenience to its students by allowing them to take their exams online," said Jarrod Morgan, who played a key role in the '

development of the ProctorU online exam service. Morgan also said "ACHS particularly liked that the proctor was always available to the student during the exam should a technical problem arise."

"We are excited about the opportunity to expand our technology for our students. The addition of ProctorU allows our student body to have more autonomy," said ACHS Dean of Student Services Joel Strimling. "They are able to set up their own Proctor at the time convenient to them without a paper trail to and from the college. It allows for a seamless experience while meeting education requirements for all. It also meets our mission to increase sustainability college-wide and minimize paper waste with green options."

ProctorU's (www.proctoru.com) Webcam-based online proctoring service was developed for internal use by an online university in
2008 and made available to other institutions on a limited basis in 2009. They are headquartered in Hoover, Alabama, and currently serve 19 colleges and universities and one commercial enterprise.
