Cortiva Massage Therapy Students Lend a Healing Touch at Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- A group of volunteer students from Cortiva Institute--Pennsylvania School of Massage Therapy has put their considerable skills to work by providing massage therapy to participants in the recent Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon.

The Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon took place June 27. Triathlon events involve swimming, cycling and biking and are one of the most grueling and challenging of athletic events.

No one knows that better than Cortiva Institute--Pennsylvania campus president Jeff Mann, who was a first-time participant at Sunday's event. At age 45, Mann says training for a triathlon has had a significant impact on his health and well-being.  "My energy levels have never been better. I've lost 25 pounds, my sleeping has improved and I handle stress more productively," said Mann.

Mann is a big proponent of massage therapy at athletic events of any kind. "Massage is an important part of the endurance '

sport community. It helps endurance athletes rest and recover and relieve pain," he says.  Mann, who had a surgically reconstructed left knee, experiences pain after training but says that, "Regular massage has greatly reduced the pain and improves my range of motion."

In addition to the 15 to 20 student volunteers, Cortiva is also a sponsor of the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon. More than 10,000 spectators were expected to attend.
